Winter Membership Update

There is so much going on in our personal and professional lives right now. We want to make it easy for you to get a quick digest of what the Napa Valley Grapegrowers (NVG) and Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation (FWF) are doing for you this winter.

How NVG is Working for Members This Winter:

  • A new, FREE Winter Round Table Series is kicking off 2021. These are a set of one-hour virtual discussions that discuss timely topics growers are facing right now.
  • Our Strategic Sponsorship Program was revised to increase online and ongoing promotion for our partners throughout the year.
  • This year marks the 10th year of data collected for the Growing Conditions Report, which will include a comprehensive summary.
  • With the impacts of 2020 fresh in our minds, we will be offering a supplemental set of questions in the 2020 Wages & Benefits Survey & Report to better understand the economic impacts within our industry.
  • As climate change continues to be a hot topic, we will continue to provide our Weather Alert, free to NVG members only.
  • Finally, we are honored by the commitment of our new  Executive Committee to represent the organization and our Board of Directors:
    • Michael Silacci, Opus One - President
    • Pete Richmond, Silverado Farming Company - Vice-President
    • Paul Goldberg, Bettinelli Vineyard Management - Past President
    • Mary Maher, Harlan Estate - Treasurer

How FWF is Working for Employers & Farmworkers This Winter:

  • The COVID-19 Task Force remains vigilant and will continue to provide guidance for growers and education to keep farmworkers and their families healthy and safe.
  • We will continue our support of the Napa Valley Community Foundation's wildfire relief efforts and encourage farmworkers who have lost wages due to fire to apply for a one-time $1,500 payment.
  • In partnership with Wells Fargo Foundation, we purchased Copperfield’s gift cards to share with 250 children of farmworkers for Christmas.
  • We have launched a new program that brings laptops and instruction on the use of technology to farmworkers. In partnership with Napa Valley Adult School, we are offering a Technology Workshop to ensure online learning success.  Students who complete the workshop will be eligible for the Intermediate English Intensive Course in December and the 13-week English Program that begins in January.
  • Additional online learning will include a jump start-class on AgCode, Budget & Cost Management Workshop Series  and a Workplace Wellness Webinar Part 1 and Part 2 .
  • We are bringing back our Train the Trainer workshops, starting with a virtual Pesticide Safety certification.
  • Finally, we are introducing a new Strategic Sponsorship Program for companies that want to join us in support of the Napa Valley farmworker community.
