NAPA, CA (September 4, 2018) – On Saturday, August 25, 2018, the Napa Valley Grapegrowers (NVG) celebrated the 11th annual Harvest STOMP with a sold-out crowd of 575 guests and raised a record-breaking $2.04 million net. Proceeds directly support NVG’s ongoing efforts to preserve and promote Napa Valley’s world-class vineyards, and the professional development and educational opportunities of Napa Valley farmworkers. This year’s event was hosted by Frog’s Leap proprietors Tori and John Williams and their family at Galleron Vineyard, an organically farmed site in the heart of Rutherford.
“2018 Harvest STOMP was a night to remember and the results are outstanding. Collectively, we showed our support for Napa Valley’s vineyards and its professionals, along with a commitment to ag preservation. Living and farming in Napa Valley is a gift; these funds raised help preserve it for future generations,” said John Williams.
NAPA, CA – July 24, 2018 – It was a celebratory day in downtown Napa as 2,500-plus Napa County farmworkers and their families, and almost 50 community organizations took part in the seventh annual “Día de la Familia” hosted by the Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation on Sunday, July 22. This one-of-a-kind annual street festival brought together the community at-large, showcasing its vibrancy, comradery, and good will, which makes Napa Valley an exceptional place to live and work in.
This year, the amount of participating organizations grew, now representing a wide array of community pillars, including, OLE Health, who provided complimentary medical screenings, along with dental and vision exams. Participating community organizations set up booths along Napa Street, each having the opportunity to start a dialog with attendees, share information, and answer any questions. The information exchange was housed amongst a celebration of mariachi music, art from the Napa Valley Unified School District elementary school students, and of course, great food.

NAPA, CA (July 20, 2018) – According to the Napa Valley Grapegrowers (NVG), veraison, an annual benchmark in the winegrape growing season, is officially underway. Known as the onset of ripening, veraison marks the colorful transition from grape growth to grape ripening, resulting in several changes in fruit development. They not only change color, but they also begin to increase in weight, volume, and sugar content.
“Reports of veraison are starting to come in. According to the Napa Valley Grapegrowers’ weather alert system, the temperature forecast for the next 10 days is averaging in the high 80s to mid-90s, so we’ll continue to see veraison at a steady rate throughout Napa Valley,” said Brittany Pederson, director of viticulture at Renteria Vineyard Management and NVG member.
NAPA, CA (June 15, 2018) – The Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation honored the accomplishments of 50 student at the 3rd Annual Appreciation Luncheon at Meadowood on Friday. The event recognized 2018 graduates of the English Literacy Program and winners of the 2018 Napa County Pruning Contest. Also recognized were the donors whose generosity helped provide educational and professional development opportunities to over 15,000 Napa Valley vineyard workers and their families.

Napa, CA (February 15, 2018) – After a combination of warm temperatures and relatively little winter rain, Napa Valley Grapegrowers (NVG) announces that bud break has begun in Napa Valley, marking the beginning of the winegrape growing season. “Buds on white varieties, like Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, have begun swelling and bursting on a few vines,” said Brittany Pederson, viticulturist at Renteria Vineyards and a NVG member. “In the next few days, a cold front is coming in, which will slow down bud break; however, it’s already started in some locations.”
