  • Record Attendance at 5th Annual “DÍA DE LA FAMILIA”

    NAPA, CA – August 1, 2016 – It was a joyous day in downtown Napa as a record 2,000-plus Napa County farmworkers and their families attended the fifth annual “Día de la Familia” hosted by Napa Valley Grapegrowers’ (NVG) and the Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation on Sunday, July 31. This one of a kind annual street festival celebrates Napa Valley’s farmworkers and their families and the vital role they play in the community.

    More than 60 community organizations took part in the festivities this year showcasing the extraordinary services and programs they provide for Napa’s farmworkers, their families, and the community at large. Mariachis serenaded the crowds as they enjoyed traditional food and beverage from four taco trucks. And the afternoon brought colorful performances by Ballet Folklorico Xochiquetzal and Danza Mexica Nanahuatzin, along with face painting, arts and crafts and raffles.

  • Annual Organic Winegrowing Conference Brings Together Grapegrowers & Pioneers in Organic Winegrowing for One of a Kind Event

    NAPA, CA (July 26, 2016) – On July 21, 2016 the Napa Valley Grapegrowers (NVG) hosted the highly anticipated Organic Winegrowing Conference, the only one if its kind in the country attracting top quality grape growers and winemakers from Napa and the North Coast and as far away as Oregon, Washington and New Mexico.

    This year’s conference was kicked off by keynote speaker Renata Brillinger, Executive Director of the California Climate and Agriculture Network (CalCAN), a coalition of sustainable and organic agriculture organizations that seeks to change state and federal policy to advance agriculture’s powerful climate solutions. “California is a global leader on climate change,” remarked Ms. Brillinger, outlining the work CalCAN is doing to address climate change through: the cap-and-trade program, farmland conservation, renewable energy and planning and adapting to climate change.

  • Veraison Underway in Napa Valley

    NAPA, CA (July 10, 2016) – According to the Napa Valley Grapegrowers (NVG), veraison, an annual benchmark in the winegrape growing season, is officially underway. Known as the onset of ripening, veraison marks the colorful transition from grape growth to grape ripening, resulting in several changes in fruit development. They not only change color, but they begin to increase in weight and volume as well.

This unprecedented event honored the foundation’s English Literacy Program graduates, recognized the 2016 Napa County Pruning Contest champions, and thanked donors whose generosity has provided educational and professional development opportunities to over 10,200 Napa Valley vineyard workers and their families.
