    There's no argument that the wine in your glass showcases the skill of the winemaker. Yet it was Mother Nature who engineered the growing season that made it all possible. Rain at the right time and in the right amount, the absence of damaging frost, the welcome colling from the marine layer after a string of hot days - these fluctuations of the weather all contrinuted to the flavors in the bottle.

    On Tuesday, September 26, 2017, the Napa Valley Grapegrowers (NVG) hosted the 2017 Napa Valley Harvest Press Conference, which provided a comprehensive discussion of the growing season and issues affecting Napa Valley vineyards.

  • Napa Valley Grapegrowers’ 2017 Harvest STOMP Celebrates 10 Years of Record-Breaking Success

    NAPA, CA (August 31, 2017) – On Saturday, August 26, the Napa Valley Grapegrowers (NVG) celebrated its 10th annual Harvest STOMP with a sold-out crowd of 610 guests, who raised a record-breaking $1.98 million dollars net, a 2,131% increase over the first STOMP. This year’s event was hosted by Round Pond proprietors Ryan and Miles MacDonnell, at their historic red barn in the middle of cabernet sauvignon vineyards in Rutherford.

Wine lovers everywhere can follow along as the 2017 vintage unfolds in America’s leading wine region.

  • 2017 Sparkling Harvest Well Underway

    North Coast, Calif.—It was all hands on deck today for North Coast sparkling wine producers. Starting at 4:30 a.m., Domaine Chandon picked 8 acres of Pinot Noir from its Yountville Estate vineyard, according to Napa Valley Grapegrowers.

    Gloria Ferrer, located on the Sonoma side of the Carneros AVA, also reported the onset of harvest today. Mumm Napa also started picking today, harvesting Pinot Noir from Green Island vineyard in American Canyon. Winemaking operations manager Tamra Lotz confirmed that totals out of the press today were 19.6 tons of Pinot Noir measuring 20.0° Brix.
