On Saturday, August 24, the Napa Valley will come alive at the 12th annual Harvest STOMP! This year's event will be held at the Pine Ridge Rutherford Ridge Vineyard (the ORIGINAL home of the 1980s NVG Chili Ball and inspiration behind STOMP). We are honored to serve as the 2019 STOMP Chairs and support the important work of the Napa Valley Grapegrowers and the Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation.
Napa Valley has been our family’s home for five generations since our ancestors settled in Coombsville in 1863 from Piacenza, Italy. They developed the first Italian vegetable farm and built the first Italian winery, Carbone Winery, in 1886. The Carbone Winery still stands today in Coombsville, and Ferrogiaro Vineyard, our home vineyard where my parents John and Gwen Callan reside, is just around the corner. In 1881, our great, great grandfather Giovanni Baptiste Ferrogiaro built the Depot Hotel on Soscol, and in 1924 our great grandfather Louis Ferrogiaro started the Ferro Glove Company, which produced high-end, leather work gloves in Napa for almost 80 years.
STOMP has gained its well-deserved reputation as the best party of the year – and we look forward to celebrating Napa’s grapegrowing heritage on August 24th. Our family’s personal reason for chairing is to raise funds to support the NVG and Farmworker Foundation, whose missions are vital to the preservation and protection of Napa’s agricultural heritage, farmland, natural resources, and quality of life for everyone. We are aligned with their missions and believe that there is no better way to give back to this valley that has generously provided so much to our ancestors and to preserve it for future generations as well.
We look forward to raising a glass, and our paddles, to kick off the 2019 harvest season in support of these two incredible organizations!
