In partnership with the Napa County Fire Department, the Napa Valley Grapegrowers and Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation has created a Fire Prevention & Protection Program in both English and Spanish to better prepare for the risks of wildfires.

On Thursday, June 10 vineyard owners will learn in English about natural disaster preparedness, defensible space, and how to maintain your property in compliance with Fire Code and NFPA Standards.

Following the conclusion of this event, the Napa Valley Grapegrowers & Farmworker Foundation will release their Best Practice Protocols for Wildfires to NVG members.

To register your Spanish speaking employees for the two-day Spanish Program with Erick Hernandez on June 3 + 4, click here.

Meet the Speaker:

Erick Hernandez, Code Compliance Officer, Fire Marshal’s Office

Erick was born in Guatemala and moved to Los Angeles at the age of four. At the age of fourteen, Erik moved to the Napa Valley and attended school at St. Helena High School. After attending Napa Valley Junior College, for general studies he worked numerous jobs such as server, cook, forklift operator and dispatcher for event rental company. In 2012, I was offered a job as Intake Specialist for Napa Valley Fair Housing and after a few years, he became a Code Enforcement Officer for City of Napa and then quickly transitioned to Fire Inspector.

Erick is now an inspector for the Napa Fire Department’s prevention crew, acting as the first line of defense against fires by ensuring buildings are carefully constructed and equipped with functioning safety equipment.
