2019 Growing Conditions Report

Location:

Yountville Community Hall, 6516 Washington Street, Yountville

Schedule:

02/27/2020
9:00am - 10:30am

Overview:

Eagerly awaited by NVG members each year, the Growing Conditions Report is one of the exclusive benefits of membership that can assist you with running a successful and sustainable vineyard business.

The Growing Conditions Report, produced in cooperation with Pacific Geodata and Picovale Weather Service, contains maps, tables, and graphs depicting regional Napa climate data and will provide a countywide overview of general growing conditions.

The report employs three simple and widely understood climate measurements known to influence grapevine development, ripening, and crop loads:

  • Growing degree days (GDD)
  • Total frost hours
  • Rainfall

Additionally, the report provides data for previous growing seasons (starting in 2009), allowing grape growers to compare conditions across vintages.  Over time, a multi-year collection of reports will add to our understanding of regional climate conditions and help to identify climate trends.  This year, we will also take an in-depth look at two weather events that shaped the 2019 vintage providing case studies and highlights to the 2019 report. Attendees will receive a copy of the report at the seminar.
